How We Calculate the Panchang

Panchang Daily computes every value locally using established astronomical (drik ganita) algorithms for the Sun and Moon, for each city's exact latitude and longitude. Nothing is hand-edited or invented.
All panchang elements on this site are computed, not copied:
- Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, Masa — derived from the computed positions of the Sun and Moon (drik/observational method) for the given date.
- Sunrise, sunset, solar noon, moonrise — astronomical calculation for the city's coordinates.
- Choghadiya, Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika — the classical division of the day (sunrise→sunset) and night (sunset→next sunrise) into eight parts, assigned by weekday.
- Abhijit & Brahma Muhurat — the standard day-muhurta divisions around solar noon and before sunrise.
Accuracy & observance. These are precise astronomical estimates. Traditional panchang authorities may use a specific ayanamsha or sunrise convention, and regional practice can differ by ±1 day for some tithis. For religious observance (vrat, muhurat, rituals), please confirm with your local panchang or purohit. We never fabricate values; where a regional convention differs, the difference comes from the calculation convention, not from guesswork.
